Instagram

If you’re anything like me you’ll love Instagram¬†(I’ve posted about it here).Whether you use it to casually browse, keep in contact with friends or take inspiration, there’s no doubting how powerful it can be. One of the area’s Instagram is great for is travel. There are millions of beautiful photo’s form destinations all around the world on there. However, to save you scrolling through endless accounts to find your favourites, here’s my top 5…

Read time: 10 minutes

#1 – doyoutravel (Jack Morris)

Some of you may already have heard of this account, however, if you haven’t you’re in for a treat. DoYouTravel¬†is the brainchild of seasoned traveler Jack Morris. Originally from Manchester, England Jack took off to explore the world some years back. Along the way he perfected the art of travel blogging and Instagram and has created an amazing collection of images.

If you want to find out a bit more about Jack’s adventures he also runs his website doyoutravelphoto.com. This takes a more in-depth look at each of the places that Jack visits. There is something for everyone here and he usually keeps the text short and images high in each pose – Perfect for me!

#2 –¬†everchanginghorizon (Quin)

Next on the list is Quin from everchanginghorizon¬†who documents his travels all around the world. The majority of content on his page is brilliantly colourful and vibrant. Quin admits he kind of fell into travel photography after heading off on a last-minute road trip (he didn’t even have a camera his friend did). Anyway, I for one am grateful he did as his page is now hugely popular.

One of the cool things about Quin’s page is that it has a real outdoors feel. Many of the photo’s include the tent that he stays in whilst on the road and also the outdoor pursuits that does. If you like outdoor pursuits and amazing action shots then this page is for you! You can also find out more on his blog here.

#3 –¬†danielkordan

Daniel Kordan is a landscape specialist. Originally from Moscow, Daniel’s passion for photography took him away from the rat race and into his main passion of photography. He uses this passion to explore some of the most beautiful places on earth and take stunning photo’s. I can literally stare at his images for hours on end, all of the images have a dramatic and intense feel to them.

One of Daniel’s specialties is colder climate landscapes. There are a host of incredible shots of glacier’s from places such as Greenland and Patagonia. In addition, Daniel is an expert at capturing nature at its best with impressive photographs of animals and nature from all of his destinations. If you want to learn a bit more about each trip you can do so via his website here.

#4 –¬†bemytravelmuse (Kristin Addis)

So, Kristin, who runs bemytravelmuse is one of my favourite travel accounts on Instagram for two reasons. Firstly, the fact that she was an investment banker, got fed up of corporate life and left it all to travel is something that I admire. Secondly, she likes to hike and find some of the best routes around the world to photograph. I love travel that is active and involves exploring!

On top of her Instagram page, Kristin also runs her website –¬†found here¬†– and her¬†YouTube account. The YouTube account is especially good if you want to find out a little bit more about the stories behind the photo’s. Either way, spending some time on Kristin’s Instagram will give you all kinds of inspiration for getaway destinations.

#5 –¬†chrisburkard

To be honest, if you have any interest in travel or photography you’ll probably already know of Chris. He is one of the most recognised adventure photographers on Instagram with shots from all around the world. His specialties are far out landscape shots in remote locations. I genuinely don’t know how he manages to capture some of the images that he does. However, I’m glad he does!

Bright and bold, his images will make you question reality. He is also a director and has a short film¬†“Under An Arctic Sky” which is basically his Instagram feed in video form. By the way… it’s even more impressive! Similar to the other accounts on this list, it’s the outdoor adventure feel that is¬†endearing for me. A perfect page to follow if you like stunning action, adventure and landscape shots.

#6 –¬†girleatworld (Melissa Hie)

Last but (certainly) not least is girleatworld¬†by Mel Hie. If you haven’t already guessed this by the title this account involves food – So of course I’m going to like it! Mel’s Instagram page is unique in the fact that she takes local food from each destination and snaps it against a beautiful backdrop. Think smoothie bowls and beaches or coffee and skylines and you’re along the right lines.

The clever thing about Mel is that behind the inspiring Instagram snaps she has her website. Here you’ll find longer posts about each destination and the Instagram snaps. Her account is really bright, upbeat and well, different. It’s so simple yet so effective, so if you want to kill two birds with one stone then definitely give¬†girleatoworld a follow.

There you have it, my 6 favourite Instagram travel accounts. Each one is brilliant and mind-boggling in their own right. If these accounts inspire you, or, if you already follow them let me know¬†in the comments below…
