Baltic Bakehouse

So, you’ll find the Baltic Bakehouse in the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool. I’ve written about some other great spots in this area – The Red Berry Club & Coffee and Fandisha. The area is full of new independent places to grab some food and drink.

However, the Baltic Bakehouse has a bit of difference. Primarily, they are a bakery (award winning)¬†and the¬†food and drink is a wonderful added extra. This is really unique as most places put a premium on the food and drink on offer, that’s their jam. However, Baltic Bakehouse do it the other way around, they’re proud to be a bakery and have developed their menu off that back of that. In addition, the industrial interior makes you feel like you’ve been taken back in time to a good old fashioned bakery.

Furthermore, we were amazed at just how many customers were coming in and out to pick up a fresh loaf of Sourdough. Sitting in and eating at the Baltic Bakehouse feels like you’re watching a¬†fully functioning business being run form the outside in.

As you walk in the industrial shelving unit is full of unique and local preserves, oils and coffee. Once you move further into the bakery you can pick up a freshly baked loaf across a number of grains. There’s traditional white &¬†wholemeal, sourdough, rye, any type you can think of they make it – As you can imagine it smells amazing!

Furthermore, the guys aren’t just specialists at making bread. Their sweet treats are also up there with some of the best. We opted for a chocolate and caramel tart ¬†what went down in about 30 seconds! They have a whole host of sweet bakes for you to indulge in should you want to.

In addition,¬†they have a host of extra toppings – think flavoured nut butter’s, chocolate spreads, sweet syrups etc – for you to add onto your dessert if you have a really sweet tooth!

So, if you’re looking for more of a unique place to go for lunch or a treat then visit the Baltic Bakehouse. The guys really have put time and effort into perfecting what they do. You get a real sense of this in their produce. Finally, if you’re local it is even worth making them a regular supplier of your bread for through week. A bakery with a difference!
